Peek All Models of LG’s 2019 4K and 8K HDR TV Lineup
Like other manufacturers such as Samsung, Sony, and others, in 2019, LG is also ready to launch the number of models of their TV lineup. Besides the model that replaced last year’s model, LG is also ready to launch some new models which will compete in the market, particularly in high-end class. Just like last year model, it will also launch some models of their OLED TV lineup where parts of them are really new models like R9 Series or Z9 Series. Meanwhile, on their LED TV lineup, LG still uses IPS panel technology for most of their 2019 LED TV lineup.
Just like in previous years, there are some improvements that offered over last year models. The biggest change that offered in this year particularly for their high-end model is the switch from Alpha 9 processor to the Alpha 9 processor Gen 2. The Alpha 9 processor Gen 2 is claimed can boost the CPU and GPU speed up to 35%, providing smoother motion handling, better sharpness and detailing, and also and better color correction. Additionally, Alpha 9 processor also offers better performance in processing 120 fps content or HFR. To supports HFR, LG also equips some of their high-end TVs with HDMI 2.1, allow you to enjoy 120 Fps contents from cable sources like console or media players. Meanwhile, on its smart TV platform, in addition to it already supports Google Assistant that allows you to use your voice to change the channel, switch inputs, connect to your other smart home devices, integrate with Google Photos, Google Maps and others, it also arrive with Amazon Alexa capability for a wider range of voice control. LG’s 2019 OLED TV Models
LG Signature OLED TV R9 Series
LG Signature OLED TV R9 is the flagship of LG’s 2019 TV lineup. It is available in 65 inch only. Additionally, this TV is already powered by Alpha 9 Gen 2 Processor. The advantage that offered, the screen of OLED R9 is flexible and rollable. This means, once this TV is powered on, the screen will unfold, while when you power off the TV, the screen will roll into the box. This will be saving the space. Previously, there is no TV that has this ability. Nevertheless, at this time, there is no word on its price. But of course, considering its ability and performance, you must spend extra money to get it.
LG Signature OLED TV Z9 Series
The other flagship of LG’s 2019 OLED TV is Signature Series Z9. In the market, it will be available in 88 inch only. Like R9 series, LG Z9 series is also powered by Alpha Hen 2. This TV may be not rollable like R9 Series, but the advantage, it come with 8K resolution. This means, LG Z9 is the first 8K TV that released by LG. with around 33 million pixels, it offers much more details picture quality than 4K resolution. But the question, is it the time for us to buy 8K TV while there are not many 8k content available on the market? This TV may be equipped with 8K up-scaling engine, but of course, with native 8K content will be better.
LG OLED W9 (Wallpaper Series)
LG W9 Series is the successor of OLED W8 series that comes with some improvements over the predecessor. In the market, this model will come in 2 screen size option, 65 inch and 77 inch. Like two series above, LG W9 is also already powered by Alpha Gen 2 Processor that offers improvement in High Frame Rate Content, overall picture quality, and sound performance. Like W8 the predecessor, this TV also comes with picture frame shaped design and is very thin, makes it is just like wallpaper when mounted on the wall. To offer impressive sound performance, LG W9 comes with a with 60 watts 4.2 channel built-in sound bar that support Dolby Atmos.
LG OLED E9
Just like OLED W9, LG OLED E9 is also the successor of LG OLED E8 that released in 2018. Additionally, it also comes with the improvement on its processor where like W9, this model also has been powered by Alpha 9 Gen 2 Processor. Like the predecessor E8, LG E9 also comes with “picture on glass” design where its panel is tacked on a glass body. But of course, it comes with some changes on their design, particularly on the stand that supports the panel.
LG OLED C9
LG C9 is also the successor of OLED C8. In the market, it comes in 3 screen sizes option including 55 inch, 65 inch, and 75 inch. The design of C9 may be not as attractive as the three series above, but this TV offers the balance between the price and performance. Just like the series above it, LG OLED C9 is also already powered by Alpha 9 Gen 2 Processor. And for offering impressive sound quality, this TV is also equipped with 2.2 channel speaker that already support Dolby Atmos.
LG OLED B9
LG OLED B9 is the entry level of LG’s 2019 OLED TV lineup and also the successor of OLED B8. Although features offered are not as great as the series above it, but it offers more budget friendly. Unlike the predecessor OLED B8 that left the processor that used by the series above it like C8, E8, or W8, LG OLED B9 is still powered by the processor that also found on the series above it that is Alpha 9 Gen 2. But of course, to cut the price, this model comes with a cheaper build and less advanced panel than other models of LG’s 2019 OLED TV lineup.
LG’s 2019 LED TV Nano Series
LG SM9970 is the top model of LG’s 2019 LED TV Lineup. But unlike the other models of LG’s 2019 LED TV lineup that come with 4K resolution, LG SM9970 already comes with 8K resolution. But even so, in the market, it is only available on 75 screen sizes. As its picture engine, it is already powered by Alpha 9 Gen 2 processor and it is the only model of LG’s 2019 LED TV lineup that already powered by this processor. Like the high end of last year model, this TV also comes with Nano cell display for better color accuracy. Additionally, LG SM9970 also comes with Full Array Local Dimming for boosting black level produced. As the high end model of LG’s 2019 LED TVs, of course, there are still many features and technologies that offered that certainly also makes your watching TV experience is better.
LG SM9500 is the second top model of LG’s 2019 LED TV lineup and also the successor of the last year model SK9500. It is the highest model of LG’s 2019 LED TV lineup that comes with 4K resolution. Unlike SM9970 that has been powered by Alpha 9 Gen 2 processor, LG SM9500 is powered by Alpha 7 Gen 2 processor that certainly offer better performance than Alpha 7 processor the predecessor. In addition to Alpha 7 Gen 2 as a new technology offered by SM9500, like SM9975, it also comes with Nano Cell Display for better color accuracy, Full Array Technology for boosting black level, Dolby Vision for better sound experience, and others that should make its performance is better than the predecessor SK9500. And like the predecessor SK9500, in the market, LG SM9500 comes in 65 inch only.
One step under SM9500, there is LG SM9000 that is also the successor of SK9000. In the market, it comes in 2 screen sizes only, 55 inch and 65 inch. This model is also already powered by Alpha 7 Gen 2 processor, Nano Cell Display, Full Array Local Dimming, Dolby Vision, and others. Nevertheless, the level of its local dimming technology is one step below SM9500 or the dimming zones of its local dimming are not as many as SM9000.
LG SM8600 is a part of LG’s Nano 8 series. You need to know, in 2019, LG has rebranded its SUHD TV lineups in last year with Nano Series. Just like the series above it, LG SM8600, it is also already powered by Alpha 7 Gen 2 processor, Nano Cell Display, local dimming technology, and others. But even so, unlike the series above it that already powered by Full Array Local Dimming, this model comes with Edge lit backlight with local dimming. Since it uses edge backlight, can be ascertained, its local dimming performance is not as good as the series above it that comes with Full Array Local Dimming. Overall, performance of SM8600 may be not as good as the series above it, nevertheless, it has more affordable price. In the market, LG SM8600 cones in 2 screen sizes, 49 inch and 55 inch.
Below SM8600, there are some models that branded in 4K Ultra HD TVs. They lack Nano Cell Display, and Alpha 7 Gen 2 processor and parts of them also lack local dimming technology. But even so, basically, the lower model, it has cheaper price but of course, its performance is also not as good as the higher model.
